What’s better than doing what you love for someone you love? My beautiful best friend got married at one of my favorite venues in Austin, Texas and I had the honor of planning and designing her Laguna Gloria wedding!

Laguna Gloria, a property of The Contemporary Austin, is an amazing wedding and event venue located just five miles from downtown Austin. Walking through the gates is like stepping into a lush oasis, with stunning gardens, a beautiful water view, and expansive grounds. The Italian style Driscoll Villa was inspired by a honeymoon visit to Lake Como when it was built in 1916. Its original owner—a travel and garden aficionado—spent years designing the terraced gardens on the property. The villa is a recorded Texas Historic Landmark, and the rich visual history makes it a coveted space for events in Austin.
Designing a Wedding at Laguna Gloria
As a wedding planner and designer, I love working with couples to bring their vision and style to life in their event. For Tori and Charlie’s wedding, I wanted the design to play off of the natural landscape and old world beauty of Laguna Gloria—enhancing the natural beauty already there. We used the venue itself as design inspiration for the wedding. The white and green palette for floral design by Lavender & Lily Floral echoed the natural green landscape of Laguna Gloria. I had so much fun doing site visits with Tori at Premiere Events to choose the perfect wood tables and vintage feeling furniture to play with the old world feeling of the sculptures and architecture of the venue. Tori and Charlie’s design flirted with different textures and everything turned out amazing.
Tori & Charlie’s Wedding Day
When it came time for Tori and Charlie’s wedding day, I was so excited to celebrate them! Watching Tori walk down the aisle in the terraced gardens was a moment I will remember forever. Mockingbird Lane Events took over the day-of coordination so I could stand with Tori on her wedding day and enjoy the personal moments of my best friend’s wedding. As the sun went down over the Italian inspired oasis, guests and loved ones seated at long family-style tables at Laguna Gloria, the ambiance was absolutely perfect.
